A new chapter for the Accademia Carrara, which is again open to the public presenting itself in a new guise, up with the times and with the cultural demand of viewers increasingly attentive.
Starting today, the public could enjoy first a series of upgraded services, from the educational space to the museum shop. The restoration of the Pinacoteca lasted seven years and has brought great news: the new set-up, whose collection ranges from the XV to the XIX century, has affected 28 rooms on two floors.
Founded in 1796 by the visionary idea of the noble from Bergamo, Giacomo Carrara, the Accademia Carrara stands in the Italian art scene for identity and quality of its heritage.
Pisanello, Mantegna, Raffaello, Lorenzo Lotto and Fra Galgario, are just some of the prestigious authors whose Bergamo’s art collections can boast at least a masterpiece.
From the artworks already seen by the Academy’s visitors, in past years, new ones are added. Present in the deposits, thanks to the renewed construction, these artworks finally enter the permanent collection: small masterpieces, alternated along a chronological exhibition, which are able to tell five centuries of Italian art history.
To the exceptional investment of over 10 million euros, supported by the municipality of Bergamo, is to add the essential funding of € 1,250,000 by the Fondazione Credito Bergamasco, which allowed completing the museum exhibition.
The special opening of the museum from 10 am to 12 pm, always with free admission, will continue throughout the week, until Sunday, April 26th.
